my mum and dad argue a lot
Introduction

Research shows that some types of conflict between parents can have profoundly negative effects on children’s physical and emotional wellbeing and educational outcomes. But when conflict is managed well, children can benefit and learn from the experience.

Those working in the frontline with parents and families recognise the negative effects of conflict and yet often feel they lack the confidence and knowledge to provide support and guidance when parents confront them with this difficult and uncomfortable issue. my mum and dad argue a lot aims to help you build on your existing skills to support families experiencing conflict.

This website contains information about One Plus One's evidence-based resources aimed at practitioners working with parents and families. It includes sample pages from the resources, key messages from current research, details about available training and sources of further advice and information.

The my mum and dad argue a lot resource was developed following an intensive research project undertaken by One Plus One on parent conflict. This project focused on developing the support available for parents in conflict through: parent education; home visiting support; and developing the skills of workers operating in community and health facilities. Click here to read an Executive Summary, which includes details of the evaluation of the project.
