Increased funding for the victims of sexual violence
The Home Office has announced additional funding of grants totalling £650,000 for six new Sexual Assault Referral Centres. The centres will provide medical care and counselling.

DCSF announces more support for Every Child a Writer
The Department for Children, Schools and Families has announced new support for the Every Child a Writer programme. The government will invest £144 million into rolling out the Every Child a Reader and Every Child a Writer programmes nationally.

ESRC research finds major differences in how local authorities support disabled people
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has published research findings that show diverse practices across local authorities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for the operation of direct payments supporting disabled people. Direct payments are used by disabled people and community care service users to buy in their own support.
