Home Office confirms new protections for victims of harassment and domestic abuse

The Government has confirmed that courts will have greater freedoms to grant restraining orders when abusers appear before them, this will give victims immediate protection.

New research on who accesses intervention programmes

New research published in the Journal of Primary Prevention looks at who accesses prevention intervention programmes. The research found that education, the timing of the intervention and stress levels were all deciding factors in who completed the intervention.

Evaluation of Families and Schools Together

An evaluation of FAST (Families and Schools Together) has been published in the Journal of Family Psychology. The evaluation found that the children who took part has improved adaptability and reduced bad behaviour. FAST seeks to strengthen the bonds between parents and children and improve family functioning.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) has published a new report entitled Assessments of parenting and parenting support need by Joanne Kellet and Joanna Apps. The study explores the process for assessing parenting, parenting support needs and views on the nature of 'good' and 'good enough' parenting.

New research published in Family Relations has identified 11 principles of effective prevention programme design from an in-depth examination of what is on the market. The principles cross four aspects: design and content, relevance, implementation and quality assurance.

Government awards £3 million to support victims of rape and secual violence

The Government Equalities Office supported by the Home Office and the Department of Health, has announced £1.6 million for Rape Crises Centres. Policing Minister, David Hanson, has also announced an addition £1.67 million to establish eight Sexual Assault Referral Centres.
