NSPCC survey of fathers

The NSPCC has surveyed over 1,000 dads and has found that over half (54%) feel "it is a battle to be a dad in twenty first century Britain". 59% felt that career pressure can keep them away from their children.

New poll on child mental health and wellbeing from the Good Childhood Inquiry

The Good Childhood Inquiry has published a new poll on child mental health and wellbeing. The poll of 8,000 14 to 16 year olds found that 27% of young people agreed with the statement 'I often feel depressed'.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Review call for evidence

CAMHS, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services review has launched a call for evidence. The review will look at how to improve services to effectively meet the educational, health and social care needs of children and young people at risk of, and experiencing, mental health problems.

A new national helpline for victims of forced marriage and honour-based violence has been launched. The helpline will be run by the 'Honour Network'.

National Statistics publishes Social Trends 38th edition

National Statistics has published the 38th edition of Social Trends. Figures on households and families include a rise in the proportion of unmarried men and women under the age of 60 cohabiting from 11 per cent of men and 13 per cent of women 20 years ago to 24 and 25 per cent respectively.

Ofcom publishes research on social networking

Ofcom has published new research into attitudes towards social networking and behaviours. The research shows that although "two-thirds of parents claim to set rules for their child's use of social networking only 53% of children said their parents set such rules".
