Dads at work: your rights
According to new figures published by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) when looking for work more than half of fathers want flexible working arrangements. Many fathers are unaware of their rights to paternity leave and flexible work arrangements. A new campaign 'Dads at Work' has been launched to make dads more aware of these workplace rights.

Government action to promote good behaviour and strong discipline in schools
A new proposal has been announced whereby parents will be expected to sign up to school behaviour policies when they apply for a school place for their child. Parents will be asked to sign up to school policies like behaviour, attendance and uniform as part of the application process. These measures have been introduced as a means of helping parents recognize the importance of complying with a school’s policies once the child has been admitted.

New campaign focuses on abuse in teenage relationships
The Home Office has launched a new advertising campaign to challenge teenagers’ attitudes to violence and abuse in relationships. These adverts have been designed to provoke a strong message to 13- to 18-year-olds, challenging them to stop abusive behaviour, to seek help when needed as well as highlighting the signs and consequences of abuse.

Dawn Primarolo: Get to know what activities are on offer through your school
A new campaign has been launched to get more families using extended services. This campaign has been targeted towards parents in order to help raise awareness of the range of activities, services and advice available through schools. More than 90 % of schools are now offering extended services. Over 20,000 schools are currently offering access to services for families in their local communities.

New research using data from the Millennium Cohort Study has found that failure to reach key 'milestones' at nine months is associated with leardning and behaviour problems at age 5.
