National Statistics finds that teenage conception rates have fallen
National Statistics has found that the conception rate for women aged under 18 fell from 41.04 to 40.7 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged between 15 and 17.

National Statistics publishes suicide rates and finds married people have a lower risk
National Statistics has published suicide rates and finds that there is no narrowing gap between those who are married and those who are single (never married) or divorced. Between 1983 and 2004 suicide rates among divorced women and single and divorced men were three times higher than rates for married men and women.

Contraceptive Awareness Week: New research from FPA
The Family Planning Association has released the results of a new national survey into men's attitudes to contraception to coincide with Contraceptive Awareness Week. The survey shows that, among other things, 94% of men aged between 18-45 in the UK agree that contraception is the joint responsibility of men and women.

New research on mental health and pregnancy
New research has been published in the Archives of General Psychiatry studying the impact of adverse life events during pregnancy and mental health. The study found that "the risk of schizophrenia and related disorders was raised in offspring whose mothers were exposed to death of a relative during the first trimester".
