New Radio 4 series with Professor Janet Reibstein

Professor Janet Reibstein of the University of Exeter hosted the first in a new three part series on Radio 4 entitled Together Against the Odds. The programmes feature interviews with three different couples who have stayed together in long and happy partnerships each facing different but equally difficult odds. The remaining two programmes will be aired on 24th and 31st of December at 11.00am.

Home Office launches campaign to increase reporting of domestic violence

The Home Office has launched a new campaign to tackle increased domestic violence over the festive season. Video recordings will be used to collect evidence targeting high risk domestic violence repeat offenders.

New research from ISER on work, family life and happiness

The Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) has published new findings on work, family life and happiness. The research shows that life satisfaction for men does not increase if there are children in the household and that for women satisfaction only increases once the children are at school.

National Statistics finds rise in fertility rate

National Statistics has found a consistent rise in fertility rates in the UK between 2001 and 2006. The Total Fertility Rate has increased from 1.6 children per woman to 1.8.

£53m from the DCSF to help disabled children and their families

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has announced an extra £45 million for short breaks for parents of disabled children and £8.4 million of extra support.
